Our History

Founding Vision: In 2010, the Media Council of Kenya envisioned PressClub as a pivotal space for journalists and media professionals to converge, exchange ideas, and collectively contribute to the advancement of journalism in Kenya. The press club aimed to create an environment where members could share experiences, build networks, and collectively shape the future of media in the country.

Government Recognition: From its inception, PressClub received official recognition from the Kenyan government, acknowledging its crucial role in promoting media excellence. This recognition underscored the press club’s commitment to operating within the legal framework while championing the principles of an independent and responsible press.

Journalism Freedom and Press Freedom: PressClub stands as a stalwart advocate for journalism freedom and press freedom in Kenya.
